To help ensure a safe, fair, and enjoyable Independence Day celebration for everyone, the following park restrictions and guidelines will be enforced during the Fourth of July event.
Events in City Parks
Event Preparation Closure
- The park shall remain closed to space reservation activities until 11:00 a.m. on July 4.
- Any items placed in the park prior to 11:00 a.m. for the purpose of reserving space may be removed by City personnel without notice.
Space Reservation Guidelines
- Individuals or groups may reserve one viewing area not to exceed ten feet (10′) by ten feet (10′).
- Spaces may be marked only with portable items such as blankets or chairs.
- Reserved spaces must not obstruct pedestrian pathways, emergency access routes, vendor areas, or event operations.
- Expansion beyond the designated space size is prohibited.
Prohibited Items and Activities
- Tarps
- Stakes or anchoring devices of any kind, including but not limited to metal, wood, or plastic stakes.
- Personal fireworks or explosive devices.
- Personal barbecue grills, open flame cooking devices.
- Unauthorized tents, structures, or equipment that obstruct visibility, pedestrian circulation, or emergency access.
- No disruptive behavior during shows or performances.
- Drugs and alcohol are prohibited in city parks.
Authority and Enforcement
- Authorized City staff and event personnel may enforce this policy.
- Items placed in violation of these regulations may be removed or relocated without liability to the City.
- Individuals who fail to comply with park regulations may be required to vacate the premises.
Additional Regulations
All existing City park ordinances and regulations remain in effect unless specifically modified for this event.
Search the City
- Follow the first clue on Clearfield City’s Facebook and Instagram to each subsequent clue, submitting your entries via the digital forms found along the way.
- Do not remove location markers/clues.
- Various SWAG items may be near the markers; these can be taken while supplies last.
- Up to one entry per participant, per location.
- Do not search on private property; all markers are located in public places and can be accessed 24/7 (parks, exterior of businesses/city offices, etc.).
Paint the Bridge
- Only use the provided paint and chalk – OUTSIDE PAINT IS STRICTLY PROHIBITED.
- Do not paint on concrete (side barriers, curbs/sidewalks, and the concrete area in the middle of the bridge); only paint asphalt.
- Chalk on concrete is okay.
- Paint must be contained within the designated event location.
- Dispose of used paint supplies in designated trash cans.
- Leave your work area clean when you are done.
Freedom Run
- Registration is required to participate.
- Available in advance online or day of.
- Participants must register by 6/12 to be guaranteed a shirt.
- Extra shirts will be given on a first-come, first-served basis.
- 1-mile and 5k participants must follow individually marked routes.
Hometown Parade
- Spots may be reserved the evening of July 3rd.
- Reserved spots may not be located on private property.
- Attendees must stay within the shoulder of the road.
- DO NOT run into the street for candy or other items given out by floats or walkers.
- Tarps and stakes are prohibited.
- Clearfield City is not responsible for any unattended belongings before, during, or after the parade.
- Items left overnight are vulnerable to theft and may get wet as the surrounding properties water their grass.
- As we close roads throughout the parade route, follow the directions given by city staff and the Clearfield Police Department.
- Parade participants must register their float in advance.
Freedom Festival
- Spots may only be reserved after 11 a.m. on July 4th.
- Tarps and stakes are prohibited.
- Fireworks, weapons, alcohol, and drugs are not allowed in the park.
- Refer to the online map to see where vendors, food, and medical are located.
- Clearfield City staff retains the right to adjust saved spaces deemed too large or hazardous.
